The production process of cement, with limestone and clay as the main raw materials, is crushed, batched, and ground to make raw meal, which is fed into the cement kiln to calcinate clinker, and an appropriate amount of gypsum (sometimes mixed with mixed materials or additives) is added to grind made. After adding water and stirring, it becomes a slurry, which can be hardened in the air or better hardened in water, and can firmly bind sand, stone and other materials together. Cement is an important material for making bricks, and concrete products made of cement are strong and durable.
Portland Cement is a finely pulverized material consisting principally of compounds of lime, silica, alumina, and iron. It is manufactured from selected materials under closely controlled processes . The process starts by mixing lime-stone or marl with such other ingredients as clay, shale, or blast furnace slag in proper proportions and then burning this mixture in a rotary kiln at a temperature of approximately 2700ºF(1482ºC)to fuse it into clinker(rocklike shapes of varying size averaging ¾ in. [19mm] in diameter ). The clinker is cooled and then pulverized together with a small amount of gypsum, which slows the setting time. The finished product, Portland cement, is so fine that nearly all of it will pass through a sieve with 40,000 openings to the square inch (62 openings per mm²).
When Portland cement is mixed with water, a paste is formed which first sets(become stiff) and then hardens into a solid mass. The setting an hardening (hydration) are brought about by chemical reactions between the Portland cement and water. The reaction is not simply one of evaporation or drying.
The main technical characteristics are divided into: (1) Rapid hardening: divided into two types: rapid hardening and ultra-fast hardening (2) Heat of hydration: divided into two types: medium heat and low heat (3) Sulfate resistance: moderate resistance to sulfate corrosion (4) Expansibility: Divided into two types: expansion and self-stress (5) High temperature resistance: The high temperature resistance of aluminate cement is graded according to the alumina content in the cement. We usually use bulk cement in the production of concrete blocks, and the models used are generally 325#, 425#.
